18 weeks and counting!

It's been a very baby filled week on many levels this first week of October! I had two people I know give birth, Anthony got all the heavy stuff moved for me so I can start painting Saturday and we've a slew of things to work on!

Mom had been bugging me to get her a baby shower guest list so I obliged and realized I know way to many people! It'll be big, but it'll be fun :).

We're working on starting to baby proof (move cords, get electrical outlets covered and plugged, etc.). As well as a bazillion other things...
- Finding a pediatrician
- Planning what we'll have to buy over what we're getting from family/friends
- Attend tours of the hospital, take our Bradley class and take a breastfeeding class
- Looking up groups for resourses after birth (La Leche Leauge, etc.)
- Preparing for the birth and writing out a birth plan
- Figuring out what we can make/buy for food right before baby gets here so we don't have to eat out every night
- Thinking of the after birth situation. To work or not to work? Babysitters? Hm.

It's been a rollercoaster of things to figure out. But is all worth it for the excitement of little one.

Oh and it's official, as much as I didn't want to find out if we're having a boy or girl...I have to know! We discussed it and we'll be finding out on the 27th, my next ultrasound appt! Sooooo excited! 90% of everyone I talk to thinks I'm having a girl (even though not really much of a "bump" to judge by), and the other select few believe otherwise...it'll be fun
to find out!

We've started tossing names around and have only been able to agree on girls names. With boys names I like the more unusual and creative names (Ryder, Kaleb, Caden, etc.), and he's more traditional (Thomas, Benjamin, etc.). I think if it was up to him, if it's a boy he'd name it Thomas Jefferson Barna... ;).

Oh, and I'm feeling a little "quickening" this week. I'm looking forward to those little movements to become more pronounced so not only can I really tell and begin to count kicks but so Anthony can feel them as well.

I learned that baby begins to hear this week as the inner ear is forming and hardening. I'm excited to know baby will finally be able to hear all those conversations Ive been having with it! It's all so much fun!!!

I'm not, however, enjoying the headaches, constant stuffy/runny nose, ocassional bloody noses, and random coughs that come and go. Feel like I have a permanent head cold...which Im told is pretty normal. Gotta stock up on Kleenex! ;)

Well, time to get moving! I'm off to the bank, Goodwill, grocery store, dentist and then dinner with Joy! It'll be good to see her as we haven't gotten together since Labor Day. We're planning a girls weekend getaway Ina few weeks and need to figure out where we're going! It'll be fun.

Take care, God Bless!

  1. Lots of decisions to make and things to think about...my advice would be to do them in order of time importance so that if you have the baby early you'll have the important things done. We didn't agree on names either. Kaitlin was about #10 on both of our lists and one of the few female names we agreed on. We have had a boy name since before being pregnant. I would also recommend documenting your labor and delivery after it happens (like I did on my blog) because the longer you wait, the harder it will be to remember the details. And you'll want to remember them someday :-)
